Established in 2016, Robert Black is a native Washingtonian with more than 18 years of experience practicing architecture in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and Colorado. His background spans design-focused residential architecture, as well as light commercial, sustainable, and historic projects.

Inspired by architecture throughout Washington, DC, the Eastern Shore, the American Northeast, and mountain regions, Robert’s work is rooted in traditional forms thoughtfully integrated with modern elements. His design approach emphasizes functionality, quality, and craftsmanship, and each project is guided by a careful balance of scope, site constraints, budget, and clear communication. Attention to detail and collaboration are central to his process.

Robert has extensive experience with additions, renovations, and projects involving local historic preservation commissions, navigating both design and regulatory requirements with care and efficiency.

He is an award-winning, registered Architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects and the AIA Potomac Valley Chapter.

Robert lives in Montgomery County, Maryland with his wife and two children. Outside the office, he is an avid hockey player and youth hockey coach.
